FrostyPXE is a ready-to-use compilation of PXE bootable utilities based on PXELinux. Inspired by PXEKnife.
The aim was to create utilities available via PXE network boot, without the need of anything other than DHCP and TFTPd.
Setting up DHCP and TFTP on a Linux server,
- zytor.com – How do I Configure PXELINUX?
- linux.com – Setting up DHCP and TFTP servers
- debian.org – Preparing Files for TFTP Net Booting
- wordpress.com – Configuring a TFTP/PXE Server
The archive includes the full TFTPd directory including PXELinux itself. So is ready to drop into your TFTPd directory and boot. All you need to do is setup TFTPd and DHCP.
The current version is v0.1 (20080919)
Currently included are menu options for:
Backup:
Linux Installers:
Hard Drive Utilities:
- Darik’s Boot and Nuke
- Parted Magic
- Drive manufacturer tools:
- IBM
- Hitachi
- Seagate
- Samsung
- Western Digital
- Super Grub
Memory Testers:
and more..
** Acronis True Image Backup requires you to place the files within the ISO created by the Acronis Boot Media creater in the backup/acronis directory. Check backup/acronis/readme.txt within the FrostyPXE archive for more info.
Something missing? Something out of date?
I am open to suggestions, so please leave a comment. Togethor we can make this the ultimate PXE compilation.
